Nephrology: Faculty Recruitment

For over 50 years, the U-M Medical School Department of Internal Medicine Division of Nephrology has been nationally and internationally recognized for the excellence of its clinical care, and its diverse research and education programs.

Faculty in the division practice and teach optimal care for patients with a broad spectrum of kidney diseases at all stages. In addition, faculty members are actively involved in high-quality basic science, outcomes, and clinical research aimed at better treatment options as well as prevention of kidney-related health issues.

Beyond two large hospitals (University Hospital and Veterans Affairs) we offer large outpatient clinics in general nephrology and subspecialty clinics in transplantation nephrology, chronic hemodialysis, home hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, glomerular diseases and nephrolithiasis.

Current Positions

The Division of Nephrology invites applications for open faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, to develop and conduct independently funded basic, translational or clinical research programs. We are searching broadly for researchers with MD, MD/PhD, PhD or equivalent degrees and demonstrated academic excellence appropriate for career stage. Academic Rank will be commensurate with experience.

Successful applicants will be expected to develop or continue a robust extramurally-funded research program that compliments current strengths within the Division. Any area of nephrology will be considered, however, we particularly encourage applicants with expertise in the areas of systems biology, multi-scalar data integration, metabolomics, genetics, glomerular diseases, kidney development, diabetes, epidemiology, and health services research. The Nephrology Division has a broad-based research portfolio with ~ $20 million research budget annually including the George M. O'Brien Michigan Kidney Translational Core Center. Successful candidates will receive a competitive salary and start-up package.
